  • How much does it generally cost to cremate a dog in australia?

    A dog cremation can cost up to $500, depending on factors such as the breed of dog, the size of the dog and whether you choose a commemorative item of some kind. General choose a cremator that comes in under $400 if possible, this should include the cost of a high quality commemorative item.

  • Are vets able to cremate dogs in australia?

    While some vets own their own cremator, most will generally work with a cremation partner. Remember you are always able to choose who you want to use for your pet, so choose a well regarded crematorium like Pets to Rest 

  • Can a vet charge more to cremate my dog?

    Vets are generally very reliable when it comes to discussing aftercare services with you. The cost they quote you will often be contingent on the wholesale price they are able to negotiate with their cremation partner.

  • Can you send a Dogs ashes overseas?

    Yes, there are ways to take ashes overseas with you, however, Covid-19 has led to the imposition of many different restrictions. To be safe, we recommend you check this with the department of home affairs.

  • Is it illegal to spread my dogs ashes anywhere in australia?

    It is not legal to trespass on private land, but it is legal to scatter ashes in public land, provided you do not unreasonably interfere with the safety and well-being of others. In other words, do not scatter ashes over the personal property such as a car.

  • Can a dog cremator pick up a dog if they have not yet passed away?

    Cremation businesses will not collect a pet dog before it has died, however, if your pet is reaching the end of its life, please feel free to call and discuss your end of life options with one of our representatives.

  • What happens to the microchip, any other jewelry or collar on my dog during cremation?

    Cremators heat up to temperatures up to and sometimes beyond 800 degrees celsius. As all living animals are made up mainly of water, most remains evaporate as part of the cremation process. Metallic items that burn at higher temperatures will often be left behind within the cremation chamber.

  • How long will it take for someone to pick up my dog who has passed away?

    High quality crematoria like Pets to Rest will arrange to collect your pet immediately. If your pet is euthanised at a vet clinic, Pets to Rest will collect him or her within 24 hours.

  • How long does it take to get my dogs ashes back?

    Try and find a pet crematorium that provides a timely turnaround. Pets to Rest guarantees to prioritise your pet’s cremation and have him or her back in your care within 72 hours.

  • Does it cost more to cremate a large dog?

    Many crematoria will charge your extra to cremate a large dog due to the additional investment required to power the cremator unit. Pets to Rest however commits to a flat fee regardless of your pet’s size.

  • Can I provide my own container for you to put my ashes?

    Of course. Choose from one of our high quality commemorative items or simple scatter boxes. Otherwise we are happy to help you personalise the cremation with your own receptacle.
